Our new gas line was installed today. We thought they would reuse the existing line, perhaps with a new sleeve, but instead they trenched a new line to a new location across the street. The trench was actually subterranean, made by a "trenchless impact borer", which looks like a 4" torpedo with a hydraulic line.I warned them they didn't want to dig 4 feet down in our previously excavated sand, but they don't seem to listen to homeowners. Didn't lose the utility pole, they just had to go wider than expected.
That black thing on the wall above the gas pipe is actually the chimney for the new house. With no fireplace the only exhaust is from the gas boiler, and since it's condensing, the exhaust temperature and waste products are minimal.
